We drove up to northwest Arkansas for a 4-day weekend!
My parents stayed in Eureka Springs, but Drew and Jamie came along with us to Withrow Springs State Park. The colors were beautiful and the air was crisp (down into the 20s at night!)
Saturday morning we met up with Mom & Dad for a delicious buffet breakfast at their hotel, then went to Thorncrown Chapel.
My Uncle Butch is an architect, and one of his college professors was the architect of this famous chapel.
We met up with Uncle Butch and Aunt Lynn at their house, snuggled some kitties, and then set off to see some sights in downtown Eureka Springs.
Uncle Butch is the current mayor of Eureka Springs. He was born and raised here, and his family has been here for several generations. He lived on the second floor of this building with his grandmother.
We had lunch at a place called "Beans & Cornbread" and walked around a beautiful, large park. Then we went back to my aunt & uncle's house to watch a depressing TCU vs. Iowa State football game.
After we blew the game, we still managed to catch the Zombie Crawl parade!
Yeah... there's a reason we dubbed it "EuFREAKa Springs" years ago...
Next we went to the historic Crescent Hotel for our reserved ghost tours, thanks to my Aunt Jennifer who works there!

Our tour guide complimented us for the kids' behavior--little did he know, they were scared stiff!
We ended the evening with some yummy pizza at the Crescent, then parted ways to get to bed.
Sunday morning after worship in Huntsville and a trip to the Wal-Mart there (that place is hopping), we finally headed to my grandparents' property.
There was plenty of hiking to do, not to mention the dirt bike riding.
Grandgeorge hasn't been mowing the lower pasture, but that didn't stop the guys from trying to ride through the high weeds!
Grandma and Grandgeorge live on 120 acres that they purchased after Grandgeorge retired from the Air Force. When I was young, it was a working Christmas tree farm and we loved coming out and picking a tree to take back home to Texas!

We ate homemade chili with the family and watched the Cowboys game.
Audrey and Grandma got along pretty well, considering how hard-headed both are!

It was a beautiful weekend that went by too quickly. I always love visiting my family in Arkansas and Missouri! We are so grateful to the effort they make to get together and keep us entertained when we are in town for such a brief period!
