For Presidents' Day weekend, we got together with a few other couples from church for a Cleburne State Park getaway. We arrived on Friday with warm (almost hot!) weather and blue skies. Three families managed to get together in the same loop, another family had a cabin a distance away, and one more family was unfortunately in a loop almost at the other end of the park. That was frustrating to work around and complicated our group meals, but we still made the most of it and had a wonderful weekend.
Saturday we woke up to almost freezing temperatures that didn't really warm up much throughout the day. Brrr!
Lots of firewood was needed, and Dustin was happy to chop!

Funny how the kids don't seem to notice the cold. It didn't slow them down!
Audrey was so happy to have her friend Chelsea there to play girly pretend games and do art together. Chelsea is almost five.
A rare sighting:
It warmed up enough to go hiking in the afternoon; my parents drove down to join us for that and dinner.
The opportunity to snap a picture of these boys was hard to come by. For most of the weekend, they were off on their bikes or down in the creek, nowhere to be found...

We grilled hot dogs and burgers for dinner and gathered around a big fire.
Sunday morning was cold again; we made breakfast burritos together and then went to Joe and Kelly's cabin for worship. When we finished, the skies were blue and temps were climbing! It was disappointing to have to pack up and go. We will have to plan more of these trips together!
