For Dad's 60th, he wanted an intimate family gathering, so we hosted 40 of our close relatives at our house last Saturday night! Mom, Diana and I planned and coordinated. The overarching theme was cats, of course, because of Dad's affinity for felines. We decorated the tables with stuffed cats, pictures of cats, and books about cats.
Other decor included a list of events in 1957, lots of old photos, and a selection of Dad's favorite candies.

| Candy assortment included gummy bears, Swedish fish, peanut M&Ms, Butterfinger, and of course, Almond Joy |

In addition to the local family, my family in College Station came up for the occasion. We met Meagan, my cousin Randy's fiancee, for the first time!

We dined on delicious Babe's fried chicken with salad, creamed corn, potatoes and gravy, green beans and biscuits. I worked up a funny Jeopardy game with funny facts about Dad, and we had a slideshow going as well. Topping it all off was Dad's traditional Birthday Headstand, which was performed one final time against the advice of his physical therapist. It was so spectacular that I didn't even get a picture!
Happy birthday, Dad!
