Aarika's Visit

Last week was an exciting and busy week of family! First, we celebrated Sharon's birthday by eating a fabulous lunch at the Botanic Gardens restaurant in Fort Worth. Here are some of Jamie's pictures:

Little boy is sooo big!

Then Aarika arrived late Wednesday from California with her boyfriend Keith. On Thursday, we all got to meet Keith and enjoy a great evening at the lake, joined by my parents and Tracy, who came up from San Angelo! We ate sub sandwiches and boated around, plus Chris and Drew skied and Aarika and Keith attempted. :)
The water is extremely low right now, due to the drought conditions in TX

Friday, Noah and I passed out flyers for VBS in the morning (Noah calls it "PBS"), then went to ladies' class and swimming after class. That evening, we all met at Joe T. Garcia's (YUM!) for a great dinner. My sister and her boyfriend Mark were also able to join us. Saturday night we got a babysitter for Noah (the first time we've had to PAY someone!!!) and joined everyone at Billy Bob's Texas for some line dancin' and country music.

Sunday we worshiped, then relaxed for awhile until Chris' hockey game; Monday was a day at Six Flags (in HOT weather but short lines). What a whirlwind! It was really nice being with Aarika again and meeting her great guy. We managed to goad him onto Mr. Freeze, one of the fastest/craziest rides at Six Flags, and he was a good sport, so stamp of approval, Keith! I wish I had pictures of all of this but I was just too exhausted to even bother with the camera... luckily, Jamie sent me these! Thanks, Sharon, for a well-planned weekend!

This week we are doing Vacation Bible School (VBS) at our church. I am a 3rd/4th grade group leader, and it has been fun working with that age group. Noah goes with his class and impresses his teachers with his loud singing and complex sentences. He has adjusted to separating from Mommy after a rough first night. Tomorrow is our last night, and I plan to get parts of the program on video, so be looking forward to that!
