Planes, Planes, Planes

Mom called me this morning because she had seen a tiny article in the Star-Telegram about the Aircraft Owners and Pilot's Association annual conference going on this weekend at Meacham Airport, at which more than 70 planes are on display. The kicker was that, besides being free, it would also feature "Dusty," the crop duster main character of the Disney movie Planes. Can't pass up free! We loaded up and headed up to the airport without telling Noah about Dusty. When we arrived and walked around the corner to where Dusty was parked, Noah freaked! He was pretty excited about all the airplanes.

One of the coolest things (not to outshine Dusty, of course) was the B-29 Superfortress "FIFI," the only remaining aircraft of its type that still flies. Pretty cool after re-reading Louis Zamperini's Unbroken and seeing how these planes helped us win the war!

  

Noah also enjoyed this C-47, which was called "Southern Cross." You could pay to take a ride in it.

Audrey, always ladylike

 We also met a nice lady who owns this Stearman biplane restored from 1929. She wanted to get our picture and also gave Noah a packet with information about the plane, a "Jimmie Allen Flying Club" card, and wings to wear. Noah was enthralled!

Some owners were kind enough to allow Noah inside their planes...

...and one even let him "fly"!
