Last weekend was our second trip this year to a house in Granbury situated on the Brazos River. It seems this will become a tradition for us, because we have such a relaxing, enjoyable time and it is a great price and a perfect distance from home.
This time, we stayed three nights, so Chris and I arrived with Joe and Kelly on Thursday evening. We were joined by Randy and Bri and Clay and Lisa that night.
Friday morning we had a continental breakfast and spent time playing darts and ping pong and just reading books and enjoying the cool morning. Before lunch, Doug and Tanya and Tommy and Amy arrived, completing our group.
We cooked pizzas for lunch and ventured out on the river in the canoe...
...we spent lots of time shooting the breeze...
...and some of us even fished. Here is Tommy with the alligator gar he caught.
For dinner, the men grilled all the meat and the women provided yummy sides like zucchini casserole, macaroni and cheese, pasta salad, asparagus, roasted potatoes and corn on the cob.
We had so many leftovers that we ate them again on Saturday with burgers and hot dogs!
Saturday morning, I was up early to enjoy the serenity of the river.
We ate a HUGE and very late breakfast, cooked by the husbands!
I even caught someone snitching...

After we watched TCU beat up on SMU (historical shut-out! 56-0, GO FROGS), we turned on the A&M/Arkansas game and went outside for a hilarious game of beach volleyball, contending with some grass burrs that invaded the court.
Later, some guys went out on the river...
...and some practical jokes were played.
After our dinner that evening, we played a rambunctious game of Guesstures that produced many inside jokes, of course.
Sunday morning, we ate another big breakfast outside around the fire before our worship.
Brianna made the unleavened bread just like she did when she and Randy were missionaries in eastern Germany.
After worship and clean-up, we had to pose for pictures!
