We smuggled in our "contraband," as Kelly calls it: sandwiches, chips, fruit, cookies; Kelly creatively hid most of hers in the pockets of their jackets. Stephanie and I just silently let the searchers assume all the food was for Noah. Yes, my two-year-old will eat three peanut butter sandwiches. Whatever you say.
Looney Tunes Land was our first stop, where Noah began his day with the much-anticipated trucks. I think he rode this five times in a row.
After riding some of the toddler-geared rides, Noah stepped up to some of the more frightening ones with height limits. He was probably a smidgen below the minimum height requirement for some of these rides, but he was being so brave with his buddy Caleb that no one checked his height. Probably the scariest of these (we may have been pushing it) was the last ride of the day, the Conquistador--a giant rocking ship that goes high enough to make your stomach drop. Still, Noah shook like a leaf but didn't cry or scream, and when we got off, he said, "'Nother one?"
Another of Noah's favorite rides is the airplanes. This ride was there when I was a kid, and there is an infamous story in my family about how I refused to ride in my own airplane but was perfectly content to ride with Christa or Melanie, my cousins, because surely they knew how to fly an airplane. Noah rode in Caleb's plane and trusted him to pilot it safely.
We mostly stuck to the kiddie rides and never had to wait more than a few minutes, which we partly attributed to the weather (windy and a bit chilly) and partly to the fact that most of the teenagers on Spring Break were not spending their day riding the swings.
Of course, we had to ride the choo-choo train around the park and drive the Chaparral cars, which Noah got to do a second time with Kelly and Caleb. I think we (Chris, Steph and I) will be getting our money's worth out of our season passes this year, because we crammed a lot of rides, lunch, and fun into the 4 1/2 hours we were there!
Here are a few of Kelly's pictures from Six Flags!
