Arrowhead State Park

We just returned from a weekend in Oklahoma at Arrowhead State Park on Lake Eufaula. We went with several families from church and enjoyed a break in the rain, an answer to prayers!

After arriving Friday and getting settled in, we woke up Saturday to a cool morning with sunshine. Group breakfast was breakfast burritos and fruit--yum! Soon, the boys got a baseball game going that seemed to last the entire trip, with breaks for meals, of course.

 Audrey and her friend Kason were busy swinging, playing in the sand volleyball court, and being chalk artists.

Chris and I took Audrey part of the way to the lake before a meltdown occurred, so she spent the rest of the afternoon napping. 

Most of the kids decided to swim in the lake, so we parents found a shady spot and appreciated the adults who DID get in!

Saturday's dinner was Mexican Stack-Ups, followed by some intense sand volleyball. Trish took Kason and Audrey down near the lake for a free outdoor showing of the movie Frozen. They had such fun! We followed the full day with showers and bed.

Sunday morning breakfast was pancakes, eggs and bacon. Lisa woke up very ill and was taken into town to see a doctor, so we delayed our worship service for awhile in case she could join us. Meanwhile, we spent a humid morning exploring near the marina while Noah, of course, played baseball.

Kason and his family decided to pack up and go Sunday to spare Chris another night on the ground, so they made a small fire for marshmallows before they left.

Audrey had to look outside the box for playmates once Kason left. She enjoyed the tire swing with Alex, 10.

Lori and her daughter Ashley offered to take my kids to a little petting zoo family farm area within the state park. They took pictures, but I don't have any yet. I know they had a blast petting the animals, chasing a potbellied pig, panning for jewels, going on a scavenger hunt, and riding ponies, among other things! I stayed at the campground with Chris, who was feeling ill. (We were dropping like flies, it seemed!)

Chris slept through dinner and missed out on our gourmet burgers with lots of sides. Cady started a fire later so the kids could roast marshmallows, and many games commenced under the pavilion. 

Monday morning was rainy, matching my mood about having to pack up and head back to real life. We packed and hit the road, thankful for a safe weekend and that Chris was much improved and able to drive home without incident. We did find a few hitchhikers on the kids (ticks! blech!), but it was worth a fun weekend with our church family.
