Saturday morning, very early (Starbucks was a necessity), my long-time college friend Carly and I headed down to Houston for our close friend Kristin's bridal shower at 11:30. We were making great time and stopped for a quick break, only to be delayed by 45 minutes of traffic near Conroe! It was terrible, and we arrived over half an hour late. We then wandered around the Junior League of Houston for another 15 minutes, looking for the party! We are such a mess. Finally, we made it and were so excited to celebrate Kristin's upcoming marriage to Brian, a great guy whom I have known for many years through Carly, who went to high school in London with him and introduced him to Kristin!

The shower was elegant and very special, and it was fun to meet some of Kristin's friends about whom I have heard stories for years. After the shower, we went out in the sweltering heat (ugh) and drove to Kristin and Brian's recently purchased condo!
Brian and his dad and uncle just put in a beautiful wood floor downstairs, and we received the full tour. Kristin's favorite part is the big closet, about which Carly said, "So where's Brian keeping his stuff?"

After a relaxing few hours talking to Kristin's mom and stepdad at their home, we all met up for dinner at Lupe Tortilla--a delicious Mexican restaurant that is a fave of mine--with Brian's parents and Kristin's twin Jennifer and her boyfriend, Andrew.

The meal was fabulous, as always, and it was fun catching up with Jenn and meeting Andrew. We then went back to Brian's parents' house, where we all stayed (Kristin's apartment is slightly chaotic at the moment) and chatted late. Yesterday morning was a filling breakfast at The Buffalo Grille, then back on the road for Carly and me. A quick trip, but still completely worthwhile! I look forward to more showers and parties, and especially the big event in November!

Oooo fun trip! I miss Lupe Tortilla! I could have told you you would get stuck in Conroe. You're lucky it was only 45 min.
yeah no joke. It was weird being in Houston with no MELANIE!!!
