Day one of our big Christmas Break adventure started on 12/26... on the road to Monahans, TX for a night at Monahans Sandhills State Park!
I would not want to camp here in the summer... but December was a beautiful time of year to stay in the sandhills! Upon arrival, the kids were a bit disenchanted as they attempted to sled some sandhills.
The sunset was glorious!
Mom and Dad soon joined us that evening for tamales.
On Tuesday, 12/27, we asked the park volunteers for some sledding tips. Then we found a STEEP sandhill or two and were much more successful!
We packed up quickly and headed out to Big Bend National Park!
